PPWR as Part of Our Everyday Operations
Updated October 7, 2026
Fredman Group and its companies are committed to complying with the PPWR and fulfilling its requirements.
The EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has already introduced increased requirements for packaging safety, documentation, traceability, and transparency. Based on current information, additional obligations will be introduced in the future to further ensure packaging sustainability and support the circular economy.
At Fredman, we actively monitor regulatory developments and ensure that our products, packaging solutions, and related documentation meet applicable requirements. We help our customers navigate the evolving regulatory landscape in a reliable and proactive manner.
Fredman Group companies’ commitment to PPWR requirements
- We are aware of the requirements set by the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
- We continuously monitor legislative developments and update our documentation and declarations of compliance as needed.
- We work closely with our raw material suppliers and customers to ensure that the packaging materials we manufacture and supply meet all applicable requirements.
- Where relevant, we also take into account other regulations concerning packaging materials, including Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on food contact materials, Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), as well as the PFAS, BPA and heavy metal restrictions referenced in the PPWR.
We will continue to implement all necessary measures to comply with PPWR requirements and to support our customers in meeting their own obligations.
Packaging Minimisation and Resource Efficiency
PPWR places increasing emphasis on packaging minimisation and material efficiency. At Fredman, it is already standard practice to assess the following whenever new packaging is developed or significant packaging changes are made:
- the amount of packaging material used
- package size
- logistics efficiency
- product protection requirements
- food safety requirements
Packaging solutions must provide the necessary product protection and safety while using the minimum amount of material required. Resource efficiency is an integral part of our continuous improvement approach.
Documentation and Compliance
We provide the relevant compliance documentation for our products and update it in line with legislative changes and developments within the supply chain.
