Fredman Group Ltd’s environmental policy guides all our operations toward our future as the leading Nordic manufacturer of responsible kitchen products, both in retail and professional kitchens. Fredman plays an important role in a responsible food chain – in cooking, storage, transportation, and serving.
We are committed to environmental protection – our goal is the continuous minimization of environmental impact and the prevention of environmental degradation. We comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and official requirements in our operations.
We aim to meet our customers’ needs now and in the future. That’s why we continuously develop both our operations and product range, taking into account the environmental impact throughout their entire lifecycle.
Environmental management at Fredman is based on a certified ISO 14001 environmental system. As part of this, we have identified environmental risks and assessed their likelihood. These risks are reviewed at least every two years.
We monitor progress toward environmental goals at the management team level. In addition to these goals, we track various other indicators, such as waste volumes and recycling rates. We report on our sustainability efforts annually in our responsibility report.
We continuously develop our operations to prevent environmental burdens, taking financial resources into account.
We engage in open interaction with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. We communicate transparently about our environmental actions and involve our staff in continuous development.

At Fredman, we have a special responsibility to operate resource-efficiently and in accordance with the principles of the circular economy, as many of our products are single-use or have a short lifespan. However, many of our products extend the shelf life of food and thus help reduce food waste. Together with our customers, we seek ways to improve the recyclability of our products and to reduce the use of virgin plastics, even though virgin plastic is still needed in many food packaging applications.
The majority of our product sales come from items manufactured at our factory in Rauma. We are continuously striving for more responsible raw materials and high quality, both in our own production and in the finished products we distribute. In food packaging, we consider overall performance to ensure that the packaging protects and extends the shelf life of the food.
We take responsibility for our producer obligations, meaning we are accountable for the environmental impact of our products throughout their entire lifecycle – even when they become waste. Packaging for Fredman’s professional and home kitchen products is properly recycled through the Finnish Packaging Producersproducers
